I’ve never been one for a lot of makeup. It could be due to the fact that I’ve never really known how to apply makeup properly, and it could just be that I think that excess amounts of makeup look ridiculous in every day life… Whatever the case, I’ve never been one for makeup.

You’ll see in the “Au Naturel” photo below that my skin is anything but flawless – so, for the sake of my vanity, I need to put something on it. I’m kinda blotchy and not at all smooth-skinned. I have perpetual dark circles under my eyes – between being married to a teeth-grinding snorer for the past eight years and having young children to care for at night for the past 3 years, I’ve got a sleep deficit the size of the Golden Horseshoe. I’ve tried those under the eye roller things, but they’re best when used consistently and I just haven’t worked them into my routine. When I think about my dark shadows under the eyes is when I’ve got 30 seconds to apply my makeup before rushing the kids out the door.
Last month, I received some Pixi products in the mail from Target – I won a prize in their #TargetBacktoSchool Twitter party. The one that intrigued me the most was the Pixi Wide Awake double ended crayon – particularly the Brighten end. I draw along the bottom of my eye from the tear duct to the outer edge, and then fill in the dark circles under the eye. It looks unnatural when the brightener is on its own, but when I add the foundation, the I’m left with very little darkness.
Which brings me to the Aloette Ultra Finish Foundation. It’s a light weight powder foundation (not a messy powder, though!) that does the work of a concealer, foundation, SPF, and powder all in one. It’s light, not cakey. It blends into my skin, there’s no obvious line of where the concealer stops and where my own skin begins. It doesn’t smell (Ugh. I can’t stand smelly foundation!), and I can use it to completely cover up that dang period zit when I use a smaller brush.
When I go out with the husband, I pull out the eye shadow and the mascara, and even the eye liner sometimes – but for a less than a minute fresh-faced look when I’m rushing through the day with the kiddos, I can’t do without my Pixi Brighten and Aloette Foundation!

Pretty.
Hm, that I could do. My under eye circles are out of control.
I need this! I have permanent dark circles under my eyes.
So with you. The easier the better. I am just not one to excel at the whole beauty makeup thing. Thanks for the heads up. I have heard a number of times recently about the Pixi brand at Target. Will have to try it out
