Turns Out that Elsa’s Not the Only One with Magical Powers: Putting an End to Picky Eating with GLAD & Disney! #gladlunch

Last week, GLAD sent us a SUPER fun surprise in the mail – Cars and Frozen sandwich bags!

The first thing that four year old Hendrik said was, “Mom, those are so AWESOME! How did they know that I love Lightning McQueen? I have a GREAT idea – maybe you can put a snack in this bag and I can put it in my lunch bag and bring it to school with me!!!”

Almost 3 year old Anneke shrieked, in her 3 year old voice, “MOMMY! I SEE LET IT GO BAGS! I HAVE THEM ALL, MOMMY?!”

We’ve got miles to go before school starts, though – this week we’re camping, and over the next two weeks the kids will be going to Grandma’s, Tante Sarah’s, and Oma’s house, so we’ve been using these bags to pack snacks for our trips.

My little Anneke is a full-blown three year old, and has decided that the only foods she will willingly eat are KD, hotdogs, and cookies. Every other food incites a battle, and, as I don’t intend to feed my child a college student’s diet, every interaction with food is long and drawn out.

Enter the “Let it Go” GLAD bags.

Before we left for camp, Anneke and I went shopping for a large assortment of colourful, healthy snacks. Before we head out on our bike ride, hike, or trip to the beach, we all grab a bag and pack it full of good food

I know that Elsa’s the one with the magic touch, but it turns out that ANNA really DOES have magical powers – she somehow convinces my darling daughter that carrots are a completely edible food!

The cool thing about these bags is that, after the kids finish their snacks, they wash them out and use them to keep their treasures and crayons in instead of tossing the bags into the recycling.

We don’t always use disposable snack bags in our house, but when we do, we’ll be using these.

(Who knew that a plastic bag could be such a sanity-saver?!)

Hmmm…. I wonder if I can serve vegetable stir fry & rice out of one of these bags tonight for dinner? 😉

I live in Hamilton, Ontario, and love my city. I'm a Netflixer, choral music geek, bookworm, inventor of recipes (I take Artistic Licence on EVERYTHING that I make), wife of one, mother of two, and owner of a neurotic Schnauzer. I respect people who respect others. I love good food that's well done, but my favourite lunch is KD & hotdogs. With ketchup. I'm addicted to Clearance Shopping. I will ALWAYS get the product that I want at the price that I want, eventually.

  1. I need to find some of these for R. She’s a bit of picky eater too!

  2. What a great idea! My kid would love those bags too, hey – whatever it takes to get them to eat works for me!! I’m going to keep my eye out for those snack bags here, thanks.
