So we started this Thrifty Thursday last week, and it’s kind of given me an incentive to keep my eyes open for extra special deals.
I thought about sharing my best deals on post-Easter candy, but that would be admitting to everyone that I bought some…so we’ll skip that.
I stopped in at the second hand store again this week, and was glad I did. If you missed it last week, the best way to get good deals at second hand stores is to go often, go quick, and have a few specific items to look for (for me it is quality footwear, good games, and name brand kitchen accessories ie. Pampered Chef).
I glanced around in the toy section quickly, because you can often find new or almost new toys there as well. What I found this week wasn’t new – quite the opposite actually. I got this set of 12 Disney books and the accompanying cassette tapes in great condition for just $2. Just flipping through these reminded me of listening to some of them as a child (I think we actually had them on those small records- that’s how old they were).
The recordings are actually really well done! Different voices, songs right from the movie, and sound effects.
The kids enjoyed listening/reading so much, and thought it was a treat to listen (they thought it was like watching a movie!). We brought blankets and pillows into the only room that has a cassette player (I’ll be looking for one of those as my next purchase!).
So that was my thrifty find of the week. Have you found any second-hand treasures? Great deals? Kijiji finds? Sale or clearance-priced items?

We had that set. This brings back some many childhood memories!
Two awesome finds on Kijiji for me the past 2 weeks.
1. A BOB Revolutions stroller for $75! If you know strollers at all, the BOB strollers are a top of the line stroller. Brand new it would of cost close to $500.
2. A buffet with hutch for $30. I’m pretty sure it’s from Ikea, but there’s no obvious way to tell. I tweeted them a picture but they don’t think it’s theirs. Anyway, it’s a huge savings and it’s providing me with extra kitchen space. I turned it into a coffee bar, and freed up some prime counter space in my kitchen.
Wow – great find on the stroller!! And great news on the hutch – especially if it is what you’ve been wanting for a while!!
