Capturing Summer Memories #KinderMom

Even though people have been complaining about this supposedly “cold” summer, we have absolutely loved it in this house! Fresh air, cool breeze, bright sunshine, and crisp evenings perfect for sleeping! We’ve had a blast this summer.  Lots of trips to the beach, a family picnic, camping with family, visiting family,  a trip to Medieval Times, a trip to Marineland, ... Read More »

Local Summer Fun #KinderMom

We really believe in letting our kids amuse themselves as much as possible, to encourage and celebrate playtime everyday. And when it comes to vacation ideas, we don’t tend to do big trips or expensive places.  We find all the fun local activities that we haven’t had time to do all year long, and do them into two months in the summer.  So I thought ... New Surprises AND a Chance to Win with Kinder

One of the reasons I’m so excited to be a part of this KinderMom campaign is our family connection to Kinder Surprises.  When my husband & I first met 17 years ago, we started collecting Kinder Surprise toys.  We had a large shelf on the wall and sorted them according to type of toy  (car, animal, person and the dreaded ... “A Joy to Share” and a Candy Cane Craft

MR) Ever since our boys were little, we have been talking about sharing with others.  We’d give away toys when we had too many, and most Christmases, we’d make a gift box to send to kids in third world countries.    This year, the boys wanted to try something different, so we’re participating in the Ministry to the Seafarers.  We’ve ... Superhero Accessories #4: Batman’s Mask & Cuffs

This last costume came together rather easily.  We had the black cape from a few years ago.  We had just gotten the batman t-shirt from a friend.  So all we needed was a batman mask.     I did a Pinterest search for some ideas. The one we ended up liking was a broken link, so we just had to ... Read More »

Superhero Accessories #3: Captain America’s Shield

So this post ended up being a bit of a cheat. I looked on Pinterest, and saw some really great ideas for a Captain America shield, using either  a Frisbee or a Flying Saucer sled.  I kind of looked into each of these ideas, but I didn’t want to spend much money.  I figured I’d have to buy the Frisbee (ours ... “Superhero” Accessories #2: The Pirate Sword

So I know that this series is “Superhero” Accessories, and a pirate isn’t really a Superhero.  But our youngest wanted to be a Pirate for Halloween, and when he realized that his brothers were all Superheroes, he decided that  he would be a “Super Pirate.”  I’m not sure how that’s different from a regular pirate, but it’s good enough for him!   ... Superhero Accessories #1: Thor’s Hammer

As I had mentioned earlier in my #KINDERmom post, our boys are obsessed with Superheroes.  Today as we started putting together Halloween costumes, I found myself on Pinterest looking for inspiration for some accessories for our Superheroes.  I don’t want to have entirely store-bought costumes, but I also don’t have the energy to make four complete costumes myself.  So we ... Four Superheroes and a Pretty Princess

So being the only girl in our house (not counting the dog), it tends to be a loud, busy house.  Four boys wrestling, running, jumping, and being superheroes.  Somewhere along the line, though, these wonderful superheroes have taken to calling me a “Pretty Princess.”  I often get “Thank you, Your Majesty,” or “This supper is delicious, You Royal Highness.”  Anytime ...
