Penguin Craft and Movie #StreamTeam

What a wonderful snowy afternoon! The kids spent a few hours outside enjoying the first real snowfall of the year. They were busy shoveling, sledding, and of course, throwing snowballs! We love celebrating the arrival of winter, and so we had a little hot chocolate/popcorn/movie party when they came in.

Since it is winter-y outside but not yet Christmas, we wanted a movie that would feel winter-y.  So we headed to Netflix and chose Mr. Popper’s Penguins! Such a fun, silly movie.  What is it about penguins that everyone seems to love? The penguins are the star of the show, and the kids loved it! (just a note: there is some language like “Oh my God” that we didn’t appreciate).

After that fun movie, we were inspired to create more penguins for our house with this simple penguin craft!! We did a triangle shape to start with, added some black for the wings, and another triangle for the nose.  Some googly eyes, and we were done! Pretty cute!!

Do you have any snowy-day movies that are family favourites?  What do your little ones watch when they are home sick? Netflix has some great family content that is sure to lift spirits!

I live in Bowmanville, and am a mom to four young boys - it can get a little loud in my house. I am a Christian, a part-time French teacher, a piano teacher and former homeschooler. I love finding the best deals, which will come in handy when our boys become hungry teenagers! We just moved to a house with more outdoor space, and I'm still getting used to life in the country (a walk around the block is a lot longer here!).

  11. We love Netflix and we have a subscription to this. The only bad thing is, our Hughes Net connection sucks! We only have little data for the entire month, so we can’t watch movies anytime we want to. Plus, we eliminated TV in the house years ago. Anyway, I can’t wait to go back to our other house this Christmas Break and watch all the movies we want since we have great service there. We haven’t seen this movie yet, and I am sure this would be a fun one to watch as a family. Thanks for sharing! Now I know what to watch next. We always love to watch that Polar Express show though during the Christmas break.

  12. We have never seen this movie! I will have to use it for family night one week!
