Stars

One of the first things I pinned to my Christmas board was this beautiful picture of dangly stick stars.  Since then I’ve pinned a few more star ornaments made from twigs.  I think it’s such a simple, natural decoration, which I often prefer to the flashy store-bought ones.

Thanks to our huge tree in our backyard, our boys colleceted piles and piles of sticks for me in the fall.  They helped me break them up and match them in piles of similarly-sized twigs.  I used a glue gun to put them together, and it went pretty quickly.

They ended up somewhat lopsided and asymetrical, but I like them that way.  We made these smaller ones to hang on the tree with twine.  I sprayed a little bit of glitter on them.  A few of them I hung from a bright red ribbon and gave away as gifts.

The larger ones I hung on our house – I had about 7 of them up all the way accross, but the wind took a few of them.  I need to find a better way to hang them up.
