I don’t know how much time you spend thinking about water – how lucky we are to have clean water in our homes, how much of it we waste, how much we take it for granted – I contemplate it on a fairly regular basis.
Did you know that a toilet can use between 1 – 7 gallons of clean water PER FLUSH? That’s 5 two litre pop bottles full of water! FOR EACH FLUSH! FIVE TWO-LITRE BOTTLES OF CLEAN WATER TO CLEAN UP YOUR PEE!
Furthermore, did you know that 1.8 BILLION people around the world take their water from a source contaminated with feces, putting them at risk of contracting cholera, dysentery, typhoid and polio?
Think about that for a minute. We’re literally flushing gallons of clean water down the toilet while so many others are forced to basically drink polluted toilet water.
Brita Canada has partnered with ME to WE on a sustainable change initiative that supports a borehole in Irkaat, Kenya that provides the community of more than 1,800 with access to clean water.
This partnership was launched in 2016 with Brita’s specially marked filters & pitchers, and this month, Brita is expanding with a limited edition statement bottle.
Every purchase of a Brita ME to WE statement bottle (or specially marked product) will provide a year’s supply of clean water to a person in Kenya. Now THAT’s shopping for change.
And, just so you know that this isn’t just a big money-grab, each bottle has a unique Track Your Impact code so you can see where and how your purchase has made an impact. <— very cool.
So besides the fact that this water bottle is LIFE CHANGING for someone in Kenya, it’s pretty great for the person actually using it! Inside is a carbon filter which is used to reduce particulates and the taste and odor of chlorine from your tap water. It’s BPA free and dishwasher safe (because who in their right mind washes dishes by hand?), and ONE bottle can replace up to 300 plastic water bottles!
You can grab this water bottle for a limited time at Wal-Mart, Real Canadian Super Store, Real Atlantic Super Store, Loblaws, and Zehrs.
Disclaimer: We were provided with this awesome water bottle and payment in exchange for promotion of this fantastic initiative, but, as always, thoughts and opinions are our own. I’m so pleased to be able to participate in a campaign that has such a huge impact!

What a cool initiative! I’ll keep my eye open for these bottles. Thanks for sharing, Jenn!
