I’ve always loved tulips – so bright and cheery and spring-like. And being of Dutch heritage, it’s a nice reminder of where our ancestors came from.
So this spring tulip craft will brighten up any room, especially with this never-ending winter we seem to be experiencing!
Materials:
- clear contact paper
- bright coloured tissue paper cut into squares
- tulip template cut out of cardstock
I love this style of craft because it is virtually mess-free!
1. Draw and cut out a tulip shape. I just eyeballed mine, and it’s about 4 inches tall. Cut 2 strips of contact paper for each child that are the same height as the tulip. My strips kept curling up while I was cutting.
2. Peel off the back of one strip of contact paper and place on table, sticky side up. I put a butter knife on each end to weight it down and stop it from curling up.
3. Give each child some tissue paper and have them stick them on the entire strip. You may need to help the younger ones fill in the small spaces at the end, but otherwise it’s pretty simple!
4. Take the second piece of contact paper and stick it over top, smoothing out any wrinkles. Using the template, trace as many tulips on your strip as would fit. Ours fit 4 very nicely.
5. Cut out the flowers (or have the older children cut them out themselves).
Hang your tulip craft in the window and enjoy your beautiful taste of spring!
