Last night, as I was watching my son’s soccer game, I had a realization. I’m a soccer mom. I don’t know why it didn’t hit me before, but I have all the symptoms.
- I drive a mini-van
- I have four kids, three of whom are in soccer
- We spend four nights a week at practices or games
- We’ve been doing this for three years now.
- I love it!
So in the next few weeks, I thought I’d share some of the hints and tips that I’ve picked up over the years, through trial and error, to help survive the busy-ness of soccer season, while having older and younger kids around! And these tips don’t just apply to soccer, but any other sports, indoor or outdoor, or dance/music classes.
This tip is a great one I picked up during the heat waves 2 years ago. It’s very simple:
A spray bottle filled with water!
When our boys are finished their shift and grab a drink of water, we spritz them down with a nice cooling mist of water, and they feel much better. Especially on one of those days where there are no subs, and they’re playing the whole game straight. Usually the rest of the team lines up for a spritz too!
Do you have any tips for getting through busy sports/dance/music time? Please share!
Stay tuned for more tips!

Great idea. We’ve done this for football before. I wanted to see more ideas in this post
I’ll be posting more in the next few days! Make sure to stop by!:)
That’s a good tip. I wouldn’t calll myself a soccer mom but my daughter started playing soccer last year and she loves it. I don’t go to all the practices since she’s 14 and into her friends being there instead.
This is a great tip though.

I’m enjoying this while they’re young, but I know that when they’re older, they’ll be too cool to have their mom there…. 🙂
