Pumpkin Carving Tip

Now I’m sure that most people have already carved their pumpkins on the weekend.  For me, procrastinating paid off- instead of carving with four boys on indoors on a cold rainy day, we took our pumpkins outside and carved them in the beautiful sunshine today!  And left the mess outside!

Here’s a quick tip that we’ve been using for years to add interest to our pumpkins: toothpicks.

You can use them to add ears to your pumpkin by cutting scraps into ear shapes, and sticking them on the sides.

You can also create really neat pupils for the eyes by cutting small circles and holding them in place with the toothpicks.  When the pumpkin is lit, you can’t see the toothpicks, and it looks like the eyes are just floating there!

I’d love to hear if you have any other tips to share!

I live in Bowmanville, and am a mom to four young boys - it can get a little loud in my house. I am a Christian, a part-time French teacher, a piano teacher and former homeschooler. I love finding the best deals, which will come in handy when our boys become hungry teenagers! We just moved to a house with more outdoor space, and I'm still getting used to life in the country (a walk around the block is a lot longer here!).
