Being a planning time teacher, I can end up teaching any number of subjects (art, drama, music, gym) and am always on the lookout for new ideas. So when my boys came home with their schoolwork at the end of the year, I thought I’d take some pictures of their primary art ideas to save and refer to in the future. They came home with some wonderful pictures, and their teachers did an awesome job teaching!
I absolutely LOVE this Remembrance Day picture of poppies in a field (Grade 3).
And these geometric designs are great! The kids just traced the wooden shapes onto a paper, then the teacher made 4 copies of it so they could colour it with pastels (Grade 3).
This watercolour tree is a little different, but I still like it – very Group of Seven-esque! (Grade 3)
I love the idea where they trace their hands and feet, then draw the rest of the body! (Grade 3)
This picture just about brought me to tears the first time I saw it (and many times afterwards). The class had been studying names for God, so they chose a few of their favourite. Love it!!!
This tissue paper background looks really striking behind the flower! (Grade 1)
Another cute winter picture. It’s a fun use of wrapping paper and Christmas sheet music (Grade 1).
Another fun winter picture! (Grade 1)
This picture was based on The Princess and the Pea, and they glued a little split pea at the bottom. I love the addition of glitter!
This penguin picture is just adorable! And I love how they filled the whole page with colours! (Grade 1)
I love this perspective on the snowman!! (grade 1).
This gecko is kind of fun! (Grade 1)

Great post Marya. I too am amazed at the awesome artwork that came home this year. I have had school art work professionally mounted and framed at Michaels Craft Store. Use the 60% off custom framing coupons that come in their flyer. The staff there are really helpful with suggestions for what frames are in your budget and what frame looks best with your child’s art work. I love having the kids artwork around the house. My daughter’s going into her senior year at university and I still have her grade school professionally framed artwork hanging up. Also…I have brought smaller artwork (ex. school made paper Mother’s Day place-mats) to Staples to be professionally laminated. Also inexpensive and they’ll last forever.
