The very first album that I ever owned was The Lion King soundtrack. My brother bought it for me for Christmas when I was in grade 5. It was a cassette tape. I listened to it until I could sing every sing word of every single song. This would be about the equivalent of a child today watching the movie on repeat until they could recite every line; I couldn’t do that, since we didn’t actually own a VCR – we’d rent it along with a few VHS tapes for birthdays or other special events.
Can you imagine that? Not being able to pop a movie in and watch it whenever you want? The world is a very different place today.
Anyhow. The Lion King. I loved the soundtrack. I loved the movie. I loved my over-sized nightgown with Simba and Nala on it. I haven’t watched it yet with my kids because they’re a little too skittish for the hyenas, which means that I haven’t watched it since University. (What? Didn’t you watch all the Disney movies with your dorm mates in uni?)
BUT. I am SO excited! I just found out that I get to go see Disney On Ice Passport to Adventure with the kids next Thursday, and one of the four story lines is The Lion King!! Hey-o!
I mean, come on – Timon & Pumba – these guys are amazing! I’m so pumped to introduce the littles to them.
The other three stories being featured are Peter Pan, Lilo & Stitch, and The Little Mermaid. Besides the characters, they’re all on the ice! Skating & figure skating! Figure skating has a special place in my heart. I loooove it. There is pretty much nothing about this that I’m not looking forward to! Want to come? Get your tickets here!
So besides bragging that I get to go to this with the kids next week, I need to tell you that we have a set of FOUR tickets to give away to the Opening Night Hamilton performance at the FirstOntario Centre on Thursday, March 19.
Who wants them? Enter through this Rafflecopter form for your chance to win – come back daily to get more chances, and this is a QUICK giveaway – it closes on Saturday March 14 at midnight!
Must be 19 years of age to enter. Must be able to claim tickets in person at FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton at the time of the show. Transportation not provided.
