Hey! This is a sponsored post. But the product is AWESOME & I know that you trust our opinions (else, why would you be here?) so keep reading, and then go download the One Day app to your Apple device – you’re gonna need to do that, anyways, to win the $150 VISA gift card!!
Christmas time is here, happiness and cheer… fun for all that children call their favourite time of year…
This past Sunday, we headed out to get our tree from a local tree farm. I think we picked a pretty perfect one. After dinner & before the kids went to bed, we put up the lights and some of the child-friendly decorations. This is the first time that I’ve let the kids touch the decorating aspect of the tree, and it was a little hard to give up the control!!
My dear husband, who has always left the decorating to me, sat back, worked on some computer stuff and DJ’d some Christmas tunes for us. It was fun, quiet, & generally nice. We live at least 1.5 hours away from ALL of our family (except for the folks that we’ve adopted as our Hamilton family!), so there’s not a lot during the Christmas season that we get to share with Grandma, Opa, Uncle Dave, the cousins, etc. There’s no, “come on over after church for some Broken Windowglass Cake & eggnog!” or “Why don’t the kids come over to help me decorate the tree?”
We do our best to share the kids with family via Google Chats & FaceTime, but with family so far away sometimes they just miss the cute things that the kids say. 3.5 year old H has a theory about everything, and 2 year old A has this super sweet way that she clicks her tongue & then says, “Ummm….” when you ask her a question that she has no idea how to answer. The free OneDay instant movie-maker app that you’ve heard me talk about here a few times before has come out with a few Christmas-themed sets of questions, so I sat down with the kiddos last night & we decided to share some of our Christmas thoughts with our family. I did have to preface all of the questions to my son with, “if Santa was real…” because, I’ll be honest – we don’t go in for Santa in this house. However, there are NO SHORTAGE of conversations about him & his reindeer, let me tell you that!!
It is SO EASY to make these videos. Ready for this? Ok. Download the app. DO IT! NOW! Choose the story that you want to create. Read the question to your child, then hit the record button & capture their witty (or not so much) reply. Don’t like it? Re-record it. Don’t like the question? Skip it, move on to the next. Once you’re done, hit the ‘create story’ option, and your little movie is just seconds away! Share with friends & family & bask in the compliments on your adorable children that come rolling in! Right now, One Day is only available for Apple devices, but I’m told that they’re working on an Android version – YAY! The HTC One M8 is my primary device, so I can’t wait until we get to try out the Android app!
I did mention, didn’t I, that you can enter below to win a $150 VISA gift card? Who’s got some Christmas Shopping to do? Who needs some ‘secret’ money to spend on Boxing Day? So you download the app, share some cute videos of your kids with the fam, AND win $150? It’s a Wonderful Life!

I love love love baking for my family. I make cookies, squares, nuts & bolts. It’s tradition now – I bake, they eat!
I need more eaters in my family – I’ve ALMOST stopped baking because *I* eat too much of it!!
I love waking up and enjoying the day. Our kids are still little and every small thing is very exciting for them. I hope to keep up the memories of cherishing the small things.
I think my favourite tradition is when we go searching for lights. We walk our neighbourhood looking at the lights and stop at a cafe for yummy hot chocolate.
Making shortbread cookies. I got the recipe from my Nana. She passed away 6 years ago so it’s a special recipe.
So sweet. Also, was it really 6 years ago already? It seems like yesterday, but I suppose that K was just a little babe then, wasn’t she?
I grew up in the country, so we would alway go out and cut a real tree from our neighbour’s forest. I loved dragging it back to the house and setting it up!
Just making sure everyone is home for the holidays.
We bring out the karaoke machine every Christmas Eve! It’s the only time we use it, we are horrible!
Ours is opening one present on christmas eve
Awww! Love the vidoes of your kiddos! Those are videos to treasure for sure! I”ll have to ask my kiddos those questions! I downloaded the app but haven’t tried it out again in awhile! 🙂 As for my favourite tradition, I think it’s hard to narrow down to just one, but I love picking out a Christmas tree with the kiddos, and making Christmas crafts. My hubby usually has time off around Christmas, so we get to do more things as a family, which is a special treat!
My Dad in his santa hat handing out gifts on christmas morning.
My most treasured family tradition is for the holidays is setting out cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve!
we honestly do not have family traditions!
Opening 1 present at midnight and building gingerbread houses
My favorite is getting together with the whole family on boxing day.
Having a great holiday meal together
Favorite family tradition would be our family getting together Christmas Day with all the cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. 🙂
We are just starting to build our traditions – my 4 year old thinks that waffles on Xmas morning are a great tradition. (even if we have to eat eggo this year in our new house..moving on Dec 20!)
