Mom’s Night In with Netflix #StreamTeam

You know how everyone always talks about a Girls Night Out? These days I’m finding that I am so exhausted at the end of the day that a night out sounds like way too much work! And so, Netflix to the rescue! Time for a Mom’s Night In! Tuck the kids into bed (hopefully they’ll stay there), send the husband out with his friends, and turn on your Netflix!

I’ve been discovering such great content on Netflix lately. I rarely choose a movie, because there is the chance that it won’t be any good, and you’ve wasted your evening. With a TV show, you know that you like it, and there’s always more to watch (until that dreaded day that you finish the series… what now?!). Here are two that I’ve enjoyed in the last few months:

Friday Night Lights: Lots of small-town drama, great actors, and good storyline.

Fri Night

Call the Midwife: A very intriguing show based on the memoirs of a Midwife in England in the 50s. Loved the stories and the characters (note: there’s a lot of childbirth, so it may not be for everyone)

What to watch next? I’ve heard great things about Suits. I’m also working on Nashville right now (loving it!), and hoping to start The West Wing sometime soon.

Jenn is also a ‘committed’ Netflixer – here are the shows that she most enjoys when she sits down on her own for a night in with her feet up:

And the perfect addition to Mom’s Night In is this Single Serve Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Cookie Dough – it’s egg-free and amazing to eat by the spoonful… check it out!

I always love hearing more Netflix suggestions – what to watch next? (I specifically need ideas for what my husband would watch with me – he loves things like 24 and Prison Break).

I live in Bowmanville, and am a mom to four young boys - it can get a little loud in my house. I am a Christian, a part-time French teacher, a piano teacher and former homeschooler. I love finding the best deals, which will come in handy when our boys become hungry teenagers! We just moved to a house with more outdoor space, and I'm still getting used to life in the country (a walk around the block is a lot longer here!).

  1. I recommend two shows for your husband…”Person of Interest” and “Arrow”,both very good shows!

  2. I love “Call the Midwife” – such a great show even if occasionally too saccharine for my taste, the costumes and the compositions of each shot are truly marvelous. (As an artist I’m continually learning!) I haven’t had a Mom’s night in for eons. Great concept… I might tune into some old classics, especially musicals. (Talk about cheesy!) or maybe some romantic comedies. Lately I’ve wanted to focus on films/television with female protagonists. Moms can eat their fudge cake and hear themselves roar, too. Glad I popped over from Ultimate Blog Challenge. I love your blog title! 🙂

  3. I finished Call The Midwife and Nashville recently, both so good! Cannot wait for new seasons! Im also waiting on The Good Wife.
Now Ive moved on to documentaries 🙂

    • Are they doing more seasons of Call the Midwife? The Good Wife is so good too. I’ve been watching some of it this current year on Global – giant plot twist!!
