It was pretty exciting to watch this small bar of soap turn into a big fluffy soap cloud! It is fun to touch, though it reminded the kids of cotton candy, so they had to be reminded not to put it in their mouths! I put it into 2 separate bowls, so they could all take turns squishing and playing. It turned into a silky flour-like substance.
We mixed a bit of water with it, along with 2 drops of blue food colouring. I put it in the food processor (and of course they all needed a turn to pulse it). We scooped it into a silicone mold, and hopefully in a day or two once it dries, we’ll have some “homemade soap.”
Someone had also suggested at this point, that you could add a bit of olive oil/coconut oil for added moisturizing, or some drops of essential oils.
All in all, a pretty cool experiment!

You Pinspire Me

So it really does work! I’ve seen it on Pinterest, and been meaning to try it.
Yes – it’s just as easy as it looks! Just make sure to use only Ivory soap.
Why does it do that? I wonder if we could try it in the church’s microwave… 🙂
I’ve heard that it has something to do with the air that is whipped into the Ivory soap (“the soap that floats”). Go for it!
