Sunday evenings at 6pm in our house growing up meant the only meal of the week that we’d eat in front of the TV – all thanks to The Wonderful World of Disney. Bedknobs & Broomsticks, The Parent Trap, and Davy Crockett were all great, but our favourites were always episodes / movies when Mickey & the ‘gang’ would show up. My favourite version of The Christmas Carol was Mickey’s Christmas Carol. Goofy & Pluto were some of my favourite doodles in class.
When I was in grade 2, my parents surprised us with a trip to Disney World in Orlando. I was in heaven – I remember the villages and sets and rides and characters like it was yesterday!
I’ve seen Mickey & the Gang ride into town over the seasons for Disney On Ice & Disney Live!, but I’ll be honest – I’ve never once been! Since I’ve been old enough to have enough money to buy myself tickets to this sort of thing, I’ve felt a little silly going without kids, but until this year, my kids haven’t been old enough to appreciate it. That’s all going to change this year – we’ve got our tickets and we’re going to see the Mouse & his buddies at Disney Live! Mickey’s Music Festival on December 21st at Hamilton Place!
Have you ever been to one of these events? Here’s a little taste of what’s in store:
You know what’s awesome? We’ve got 4 tickets to give away to the Hamilton show! And know what else? Anne over at Food Retro ALSO has 4 tickets to give away – so enter below, you’ve got a chance to win one of two sets of four tickets! Don’t want to take the chance? Buy your tickets here!

My favourite characters are the chipmunks. They always make me laugh!
My favourite Disney character is Tinkerbell. She’s a bit sassy but fun. Now that I have 2 daughters, we’ve started collecting the Tinkerbell movies that Disney has released the past few years.
My favourite character is Piglet – or Pigly as he’s called in our house. My 3 year old son, loves his Piglet and you can tell…he LOOKS well-loved 🙂
Eyeore from Winnie the Pooh, he may be slow but he gets the job done
I love Cinderella’s fairy godmother and always wished I had one 🙂
My favourite character is Ariel from The Little Mermaid. The first time I heard “Part of your World” when I was a kid, I was mesmerized. I wanted to sing on Disney movies like her.
We love Ariel and Buzz Lightyear
My kids love watching the promo video. I think they’d love the real show. Hope we win!
I love many characters from Disney – I can’t pick just one 🙂
