Magic Tree House Audio Books #FavouritesFriday

We discovered the Magic Tree House book series by Mary Pope Osborne about 3 years ago. They were fun books, with the lead characters being a boy (8) and a girl (6). They went in a Magic Tree House that took them to all kinds of missions and adventures back in time, with each book focusing on a specific time period or event (ie. the Titanic, or the Pyramids).  They were pretty fun books.

But then we discovered the audio version of these books at our library, and absolutely fell in love with them! We would listen to them in the van around town, or on long trips, and would listen to each book at least twice before returning it. Even our younger ones (3,4) enjoyed it! The descriptions are so vivid that the kids feel like they’re actually watching a movie. And Jack and Annie are such great heroes. Because there’s a boy and a girl, it also appeals to a wider audience.

Another reason I love it is that I know I don’t do enough read-aloud with my boys sometimes, and this is a great way to do more of it without much effort!  I myself have even learned so much about inventors, ninjas, wars, and all kinds of history. Even my husband doesn’t mind them, and finds it much less annoying than children’s CDs.

Check if your local library has them, and if they don’t, they often take suggestions for purchasing new items.

I live in Bowmanville, and am a mom to four young boys - it can get a little loud in my house. I am a Christian, a part-time French teacher, a piano teacher and former homeschooler. I love finding the best deals, which will come in handy when our boys become hungry teenagers! We just moved to a house with more outdoor space, and I'm still getting used to life in the country (a walk around the block is a lot longer here!).

I just found an awesome deal on Magic Tree House books. The Scholastic book order form had the first 45 books for $69.99. It works out to $1.55 a book! My 8 year old devours books so this collection is going to make a great birthday present for him.
