Listerine Foot Soak {Pinterest} – Don’t Try This At Home! :)

This summer I had seen the post of feet soaking in a pretty bowl with flowers floating, and a description of a foot soak using Listerine and some vinegar.  The comments said that it just made the dead skin fall right off your feet.  Smooth, perfect & summer-ready.

So I tried it – I like soaking my feet, and I had a half bottle of Listerine from a long time ago  (we never use it).  It felt nice and cool, kind of minty and tingly.  I didn’t notice, though, that the skin came right off my feet – I still had to scrub with the pumice stone.

What I did notice, though, was that my feet turned blue!!  Not just a little bit, but quite blue!  To the point that I couldn’t wear sandals the next day!  I scrubbed them a bit, and it took some work to get them clean.

Two things I learned from this:

  • Don’t soak your feet in Listerine.  They’ll turn blue!
  • If it turned my feet blue, what would it do to my teeth?!  Don’t use Listerine!

Not everything on Pinterest works as well as it seems!  Have you ever had anything similar?

    1. I want to see a picture of your blue feet!! 😀

    2. haha that is funny! I tried a recipe the other day that did not turn out at all like I thought it would, it was a recipe for quinoa cheese (like mac and cheese but with quinoa instead of macaroni).

    3. Wow… I wanted to try this too! Thanks for sharing!

    4. I used blue Crest and it worked just fine! Different brands so it is probably a different dilution of the blue dye in the Crest. For anyone who wants to try it with Crest though my feet were fine.

    5. There is a clear flavor of listerine, so color will not rub off. 🙂
