Incredible Hulk Costume – DIY

My 4-year old recently decided he wanted to have an Incredible Hulk Costume for Halloween! As I’m not a fan of buying entire costumes or spending a lot of money, we decided to make his own. How hard could it be?

As usual, we did a quick Pinterest search for some Incredible Hulk Costume inspiration (and ignored the “Hulk Hogan” costumes) and got to work.

It is a fairly simple idea.  Green body. Purple shorts. Giant muscles.

We started with the muscles. We already own a very well-loved Spiderman costume with built-in muscles.

So we put that on first to create the big muscles (obviously skipped the mask, though).

I hit the second-hand stores and found a long-sleeved green shirt and some purple pants.  I cut off the pants in a zig-zag pattern.

When we put it together, we got a great result! Huge green muscles, tiny Hulk shorts, and one happy 4-year old.  All that’s left is to add a bit of green face paint and we’re done!

Do you buy costumes or make them? Or maybe a combination of both?

I live in Bowmanville, and am a mom to four young boys - it can get a little loud in my house. I am a Christian, a part-time French teacher, a piano teacher and former homeschooler. I love finding the best deals, which will come in handy when our boys become hungry teenagers! We just moved to a house with more outdoor space, and I'm still getting used to life in the country (a walk around the block is a lot longer here!).
