I admit, I watch a lot of TV. Well, I don’t actually watch a lot of TV: a huge amount of the time, I just listen to it as I’m cleaning up the kitchen, hanging up laundry, making dinner. I put Netflix on my phone and connect to our Bose Mini Soundlink Bluetooth speaker and go about my business, listening to my stories. Because that’s what good shows are, right? They’re stories.
Here’s what’s on my ‘Continue Watching’ list on Netflix right now:
Midsomer Murders: In this detective drama, a police inspector and his sergeant crack hard-to-solve crimes in the fictional English county of Midsomer. [Netflix] SO MANY MURDERS! There’s 2-5 murders in EVERY EPISODE! I mostly watch this one for the small English village setting, but Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby has a certain charm about him – I enjoy his character. This is a go-to for me when I’m in-between other series.
Huff: After a patient commits suicide in front of him, a psychiatrist must reexamine his existence even as he continues to help others cope with theirs. [Netflix] The first time I turned on Huff, I could have sworn that I was watching House – that is, until the credits were over. The intro sequence has to have been put together by the same person / team. Anyhow, Hank Azaria has always been a favourite of mine and I think this is a really well put-together show.
Drop Dead Diva: Shallow, stick-thin Deb Dobkins learns lessons about the joys of compassion and intelligence after she’s reincarnated as a smart, plus-size lawyer. [Netflix] Season 5 is now up on Netflix! Woo-hoo! This show is one of my favourite guilty pleasures and I will gladly watch as long as it’s produced!
Schitt’s Creek: Suddenly broke, the formerly filthy-rich Rose family is reduced to living in a ramshackle motel in a town they once bought as a joke: Schitt’s Creek. [Netflix] There aren’t many great comedies on air right now, but as soon as I heard Eugene Levy talk about this show on CBC radio last fall, I knew that this one was going to be a winner. I’m a Netflix girl through-and-through, though, so I didn’t watch until it showed up in my app a couple weeks ago. This is the real deal, folks. This odd-ball comedy is a must.
Ambassadors: A British ambassador in Asia learns that diplomatic life is not all glamorous soireés and solving diplomatic issues over cocktails. [Netflix] I’m not sure what to think about this one yet. I haven’t made it into the second episode, but I haven’t given up on it yet.
White Collar: To avoid jail, an ultra-suave con man signs on to help an FBI agent catch other white-collar thieves but he conceals an ulterior motive. [Netflix] First off, Neil is an absolutely gorgeous face to stare at for 47 minutes at a time. (I do watch this one with my husband and he knows, don’t worry.) Second, I think it’s an intriguing take on the crime drama. Third, there are 5 seasons of it, so you won’t be done as soon as you start watching.
Grace and Frankie: Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin co-star as two women forced to reinvent their lives in this funny, honest new Netflix Original series. [Netflix] As a HUGE fan of The West Wing, we had to watch this one (Martin Sheen = President Bartlett, Lily Tomlinson = President Bartlett’s secretary, together they’re AMAZING). It’s got a few absolutely fantastic lines in it and some excellent long jokes – worth watching.
Tell me! What are YOU watching? I’m always looking for something new to add to my list!
I’m a member of the Netflix Stream Team, but, funny enough, this isn’t a sponsored post! They just apparently own all of my downtime….
