The boys wanted to make some gifts to give to their friends. I thought about various ideas, but settled on this one because it was easy to make, neat-looking, and fun to use.
The most tedious part was ripping the labels off all our old, stubby crayons (although I have since heard that soaking them in water makes it much easier).
We used a silicone mould so they could pop right out when they’re done. The first few we put all the colours randomly in each one. Some others, we put all reds in one, blues in another, etc. The last few we did colour combinations – red/pink/yellow, blues & greens.
They turned out just as nice as in the original post, and are great to colour with – especially for toddlers – so big and chunky.
There are several pins for this. The one I looked at was just a link to a picture with some instructions. Pretty simple: peel & break up the crayons, put them in a mould, bake at 230 for 15 minutes.
These would also make cute valentine’s day gifts in place of candy.
Note: I tried a few in muffin tins with paper liners. They turned out slightly misshapen and didn’t have the nice shine to them that the ones from the silicone mould had.

If you ever decide to do this in the future again I peel the crayons by using an exacto knife or other sharp knife to slit a line down the side of the crayon and the wrapper peels right off! Yours turned out great!
