Homemade Bagels

MR – While going through my Pinterest boards to find dinner inspiration, I found this recipe I had pinned a long time ago for homemade bagels.  It looked easy enough, so I figured I should try it with the boys.  The weather wasn’t too warm, so I didn’t have to worry about  heating up the house by using the oven, and we were able to enjoy fresh bagels for lunch!

It was a very simple recipe with a lot of positive comments.  The only changes I made was to the flour.  It called for bread flour, and I just used our regular flour – half white and half whole wheat.  I was able to mix it in the KitchenAid mixer, and the boys love to help with that!

Lots of helpful little hands were able to shape these bagels.  They didn’t seem to rise much as they were sitting on the tray,

but after boiling them, they puffed right up and became much bigger.  We put some sesame seeds on top and baked them…  The hardest part was waiting for them to cool off before eating them.  They were just delicious!
