Back to School Life Lessons from Netflix #Streamteam

In just two weeks, we will be saying goodbye to summer. An end to laid-back, relaxed days, and a return to routines and schedules. It can be a little nerve-wracking for everyone involved. Our 5-year old is now in Senior Kindergarten without his big brother in class with him – big changes. The 6-year old is in Grade 1 – moving from 3 days a week to 5. The older two have new teachers, new hallways, and new classmates. Understandably, the boys are a little hesitant.  Really, though, who among us isn’t hesitant about trying something new? (Even I, as a teacher, am nervous about going back!)

And that’s why we’re loving Netflix‘s new series, Dinotrux. It’s a show about a wacky group of dinosaurs/trucks, who learn about being friends. Friendship involves cooperation and and trying new things. They gain confidence as they go through various adventures together.  These life lessons can apply to any of us in new situations, and can help us gain confidence too!

Netflix has a lot of “Life Lesson” shows available to help beat those back to school jitters. Check out some of these!

Project Mc2

Project Mc2 features four supercool fierce teen spies who show how girls can use science smarts and math problem-solving to save the world – and look cool doing it, without sacrificing their individuality. Total #SmartGirl inspo.

DinoTrux

DinoTrux has more than meets the tire, er, eye – these prehistoric hybrid dinosaur-construction vehicles team-up to work together using their different skills to solve problems. Even the most uncommon of pairs, like Ty-Rux and Revvit, form friendships of a lifetime. The show premiered Aug. 14, only on Netflix.

Ever After High: Way Too Wonderland

Good? Evil? Your actions, behaviours and friends are your choice! The offspring of favourite fairytale characters in Ever After High: Way Too Wonderland (8/14) show kids that their stories are their own to write – this time at Wonderland High!

What have you been enjoying on Netflix lately?

Marya R

I live in Bowmanville, and am a mom to four young boys - it can get a little loud in my house. I am a Christian, a part-time French teacher, a piano teacher and former homeschooler. I love finding the best deals, which will come in handy when our boys become hungry teenagers! We just moved to a house with more outdoor space, and I'm still getting used to life in the country (a walk around the block is a lot longer here!).
