Creepy Halloween Chain Craft

I learned how to make these chains years ago when I worked at the library, and we needed to decorate for Halloween.  The other kind of loop paper chains get kind of boring after a while, and these ones look really neat.  They’re pretty easy to make, and would look great in a classroom or in your windows!

All you need is black construction paper and scissors.

1. Cut the black construction paper into 3 long strips (about 3 inches wide), then cut each strip into 3 sections, about 4 inches long.

 2. Fold each piece in half, and from the bottom fold cut out a rectangular shape (like the line I drew here).  I usually just eyeball it.

You will end up with papers like this.

3.  Take one paper and tuck it inside the other one like this.

4.  Take the next one, and slip it into the loops, as shown in the picture.

 You will start to have a chain like this.  I find it helps to tape the end chain closed with a piece of tape (the side on the far left).  Keep adding new chain pieces on the right, by slipping them into the loops.
