I bumped into Sseko Sandals in my first month on Pinterest 3 years ago. I was intrigued by these sandals that you could change the colour & style of by using different straps and tying them different ways. I pinned them to the board where I bookmark things that I can ask for for my birthday or Christmas. Do you have one of those? I recommend it. 🙂 Follow Jennifer VanOosten’s board Cool Things I’d Love to Have on Pinterest.
For the past year, I had been getting frustrated with my shoes & sandals in my closet. We don’t have a LOT of extra cash around and I haven’t yet found that perfect shoe or sandal that matches with black or brown skirts, white pants, pink dresses, etc. So, I shopped at PayLess and WalMart for shoes. I could pick up a pair of white sandals for $12, black heels for $15, and silver shoes fort $19 – something to go with everything! However. Without fail, by the start of the next summer season, my sandals would be cracking in the closet, or the soles on the shoes would be worn out. Sure, I was being frugal, but I was also being cheap. I was tossing about 4 pairs of shoes a year, at least, into the landfill – and that is just not cool.

So. I thought that Ssekos just might be the answer to my footwear problem – in the summer, at least! These sandals are made of two components: 1) the leather & rubber sole of the sandal with five loops sticking up, and 2) the long straps, which come in SO MANY different colours! Best Sandals EVER.
The clincher for this cool product, for me, was the story behind the sandals: the ladies who made these sandals. Watch this video:
I love that my sandals are well-made. I love that I can change the look of the sandals and make them match whatever I’m wearing. I will admit that I have a hard time keeping track of my spare straps, and I have definitely lost one pair of straps already, but that’s pretty much the only negative that I’ve come across. I’ve worn them for three summers straight and the rubber on the sole is starting to wear down a little, now. I tell everyone that compliments me on my sandals the story behind them, and I hope that some of them have gone on to buy their own, because I’m not kidding: these are seriously the best sandals ever.
If you bumped into me at Blissdom 2013, or if you were watching the screen in the main hall, you’ll have seen my sandals.

This is not a sponsored post, nor was it written at the request of Sseko Sandals. I just love sharing products that make me so very happy. All views and opinions are my own.
This is probably common knowledge to more ‘fashionable’ people, but I’m told by the ladies at Rent Frock Repeat that my next footwear investment should be a good pair of Nude Heels, as they’ll be the only dress shoe that I’ll need for the closed-toe season. On the hunt…. stay tuned.

I used to work in a shoe store and don’t remember seeing anything nearly as cool as those. I’m in desperate need of new summer sandals, so I think I may just look into these.
(Nude heels are seriously one of the best footwear investments that you will ever make!)
