“A Joy to Share” and a Candy Cane Craft

MR) Ever since our boys were little, we have been talking about sharing with others.  We’d give away toys when we had too many, and most Christmases, we’d make a gift box to send to kids in third world countries. 

 
This year, the boys wanted to try something different, so we’re participating in the Ministry to the Seafarers.  We’ve taken a shoebox, and filled it with some toiletries and gifts.  These seafarers are often away from home from 9  months to a year, and may not get anything at Christmas.  These parcels are a practical way to show that someone cares for them at Christmas, and to help them know the love of God.
 
Of course, we tucked a Kinder Surprise in there – fun for young and old!
 
We also made some fun little candy cane decorations with sparkly pipe cleaners, to brighten his day.

Another way to share is with KINDER® and the Children’s Miracle Network, through their “A Joy To Share” program.  It is a fun opportunity to teach our little ones about what it means to help others.  We created a card on the Kinder Canada Facebook page to send to a child in the hospital.  We got to choose the pictures, the message, and the background.  The kids thought it was pretty neat, and were surprised to hear that some children can’t be home at Christmas time.
