As I was searching through my Christmas pins, I noticed that I had pinned a lot of Nativity scenes. There are so many great ideas out there for making your own. And since I tend to like the more simple, silhouette-style nativities, I was able to search out those simpler crafts. I find that some of the store-bought ones are either too cutesy or way too ornate. Here are some fun DIY nativity scenes that I might try either with the kids, or by myself.
What to Expect
This one is easy enough for little ones. You could either hang in on the wall or on the tree. Love it!

Learning to be Me
You can’t get much simpler than this – blocks of wood, glue and twine.
That’s What {Che} Said
This is another version of the above one – a little fancier and less distressed, but still very simple.

Make it and Love It
I don’t actually own a Cricut or anything like that, but if I did, this would be a great craft to make! I’m sure you could do something similar by printing out silhouettes, but you’d need to cut them out nicely, which I’m not sure if I can do! I love the words underneath, too!
LDS Craft Project
Again, very simple, plain lines. I love that it’s a puzzle too, and durable enough for kids to play with. If I knew how to do woodwork I’d love to try it!
You Pinspire Me
We did this last year with our kids – no glue, no mess!
Catholic Icing
This one was so much fun to do together as a family. So many parts to colour and cut out. Even my husband participated, then the kids played with them over and over.
Today’s Fabulous Finds
This one is nice, but on the verge of being too cutesy. I might just leave the faces blank. I like the stable behind it, and the star above.
Prepared Not Scared
This one looks like it’s printable little figures and a nativity play to go along with it. Fun!
Cut Out and Keep
This one is another great one for kids. You could use it on a cookie tray or even on the fridge or dishwasher.

Etsy Seller “Justorganizeyourself”
This is an Etsy seller, but it is a great picture to be inspired by. The simple image on the block, and the design of two scraps of wood. You could include the words, or just leave it blank.

Ginger Snap Crafts
I think this one is just beautiful. Simple (again!) and durable. The kids can play with it, and because it is already distressed, it doesn’t matter if they get chipped or scratched a bit by little hands. I like the words “O Holy Night” better than the “Wise Men” one above, and the font is awesome!
Babblings and More
This would look great in the dark!
The Sew*er, The Caker, The CopyCat Maker
What a great tutorial on how to get these images in the clear ball ornaments. I’m excited to try it!
I think I’ve been inspired by these DIY nativity scenes…I’ll go and get to work!
